Twelve rooms, built into the mesa.
Aurelia sits on a sandstone plateau above the Chama River valley, forty minutes from Abiquiú. We cook from a garden and the high desert. Trails begin at the courtyard gate. The night sky is the entertainment.
Rooms with a view of stone

One seating. Fire, chile, and the dark.
Dinner is served at seven. In warm months the table is open to the sky. In winter it moves inside beside the fire.
The kitchen and the restWalk, soak, ride, eat

The stone spa
A walled court of still pools, steam, and sun on pale stone. Treatments use desert botanicals and quiet hands. Book the court for a morning or an evening; it is never crowded.

The fire kitchen
Dinner is one seating. We cook from the garden, the river, and the high desert — chile, lamb, stone fruit, wood. In warm months the table is open to the sky. In winter, it moves inside beside the fire.

Dawn on the mesa
A guided walk before breakfast, when the rock is still cool. The path starts at the courtyard gate and climbs the north shoulder. We return for coffee and fruit. Boots can be borrowed.

The ridge ride
Late-afternoon horseback along the ridge with a neighboring ranch. Two hours, no galloping for its own sake. The light is the reason to go.
